His Excellency, Governor Uba Sani (born 31 December 1970) in Zaria, Kaduna State, is a Nigerian engineer and politician who is the current governor of Kaduna State since 2023. A Mechanical Engineer by training, he holds a Master of Science degree in Finance from the University of Calabar and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Abuja.
Governor Uba Sani is conscientious, a man of principles and deep convictions. He has always been an activist for civil rights and began his career as an advocate for democracy in Nigeria. He protested against military authoritarianism and was instrumental in developing a strategic base for the pro-democracy movement in Northern Nigeria.
His civil society organisation, the Movement for Freedom and Justice, was a platform he used to amplify the voices of the underprivileged. As a Governor, his administration is focused on holistic development, addressing key issues such as education, agriculture, infrastructure, health, rural development and security to enhance the well-being of Kaduna State. His achievements through his UBA SANI FOUNDATION demonstrate his commitment to Humanitarian Aid.
Through the Entrepreneurship Scheme set up by the foundation in collaboration with the College of Agriculture and Animal Science, Mando, over 100 beneficiaries have received training in fish and poultry farming. The foundation went further to assist in the creation of businesses by registering the businesses for the beneficiaries and progress tracking. This demonstrated the foundation’s commitment to long term economic empowerment of the indigenes of the State. The foundation also empowers graduates by setting up career fairs and trainings in various skills which includes but is not limited to photography, cinematography, cosmetology, etc… The foundation has also empowered women, gives out scholarships to students, hosts annual essay competitions all of which is to develop and promote the economic empowerment of the state indigenes.
Governor Uba Sani is a very selfless man as he puts the people before himself, even on his assuming office as a Governor his administration centres on taking development to the remotest parts of the State. Governor Sani, who has since taken a 50 per cent salary cut himself, wants to conquer poverty and crass deprivation in rural areas of Kaduna State, provide basic necessities and empowerment for persons leaving in rural communities, especially the youth population and women.
He also has taken great measures in reducing incidences of banditry, organized crimes and general insecurity in the State by deliberately targeting and meeting the needs of t h e poor, vulnerable and underserviced persons in the vast rural communities and also by rebooting the Kaduna State Vigilante Service. Other than procuring needed vehicles and other equipment for the Vigilante Service, his administration is currently recruiting able young men and women into the re-energised Kaduna State Vigilante Service thereby providing employment in the state. He has done and created reforms to change the fate of the common man in the state and for his works he has been honoured with numerous awards; He was conferred with the award of the Most Valuable Parliamentarian (MVP) Of The 9th Senate” by the Order Paper in Abuja.
